The spoken word is arguably our most dangerous weapon.  In the wrong hands, words can start a war.  In the right hands, words can start a revolution.  David Barnes (@PoeticProdigy07) knows this all too well, which is why he’s devoted his life to speaking a powerful truth with hopes that he’ll ignite the flame that will burn away the cloaks on our minds.

David Barnes has also found a way to embody the Concrete Cakes mission by combining his passion with personal finance.  Alongside Voices In Power, David has been able to create a brand that allows him to tour regularly, performing poetry for hundreds of people at a time.  Additionally, David shops his own poetry workshop series where he combines education with the art of spoken word.  As a professional artist, few are able to marry artistic integrity with financial gain, so that’s why we celebrate those who do.
